to the world wide web. If domain names weren't available, the normal web
address would look something similar to for example,
http://200.123.456.789.

without the knowledge to back up that search, you may well end up with
something that doesn't suit your business.

company in Melbourne - what domain if you searched for stripper + Melbourne
would you click on if you saw two names in your local area
melbournestrippers.com.au or paintstripping.com.au? We're pretty sure you'd first
click on the latter as it tells you (the searcher) exactly what that
company is offering.
Of course melbournestrippers.com.au could also be a paint stripping company,
then again if their site is badly designed they could also be a stripper
gram company - they are relying on keywords and a description to highlight their
business activities - paintstripping.com.au just says it all.
Not all domain names are available, in quite
a large number of cases you have to contend with 'cyber-squatters' - people
who buy a domain name in the hope someone will buy it off them at an
inflated price - if your first choice is gone, don't panic as in most cases
that domain will soon become available once the 'squatter' loses interest.
Buying a domain name is a science in itself,
the shorter the name the better and quite a few countries require and
office in that country to be able to obtain a domain name from there so
just because you deal with someone in Spain doesn't give you the right to
be able to obtain your business name as a Spanish (es) domain.
